7. Red Beans

A study conducted for six years found that 14000 US men had lowered risk of cancer as they consumed red beans. Actually, red kidney beans are full of antioxidants that have anti-cancer property. As per the American Cancer Society, the red kidney beans are an excellent source of fiber which helps to reduce risk of cancer development. Red Kidney Beans are rich in Vitamin K1 which is essential for blood coagulation, and many bioactive plant-based compounds which makes them a cancer fighting food!

8. Broccoli

Cruciferous vegetables contain sulforaphane that is deemed to have anticancer properties. As per a study, sulforaphane found in broccoli helped to reduce the tumor size in breast cancer by up to 75%. Similar results were obtained in a same study conducted for prostate cancer where the tumor size was reduced to 50%.

Decades of research prove that diet plays a major role in improving health and longevity of life. While the cancer fighting foods are good source of getting essential nutrients and keeping the body healthy and strong, the evidence is limited to test tube research. Even then, the benefits of a balanced and nutrient rich diet are undeniable. Scientists are striving to find more direct relation between these cancer fighting foods and cancer prevention. It is safe to say that cancer fighting foods are the nutrient enriched foods that should be consumed as a part of healthy meal.
